Job summary

University of California - Los Angeles Health is seeking an Operating Room Assistant to support patient movement, transport, and anesthesia materials in a fast-paced OR. You will assist with equipment maintenance, restocking, room readiness, cleaning soiled areas, and distributing supplies while maintaining safety and efficiency.

Work closely with a multidisciplinary team under supervision of the Clinical Support Manager and OR Supervisors to meet organizational goals.

Qualifications

• Must be able to lift, carry, push or pull 50 lbs or more (80-90% of the time).
• Dexterity to operate equipment.
• Strong communication to follow directions.
• Ability to work with a diverse, multidisciplinary team.
• Awareness of potential exposure to hazards/materials.
• Knowledge of disinfectants, germicide, and sterilant.
• Knowledge of infection control, AORN, and AAMI standards.
• Knowledge of government regulations: JCAHO, OSHA, Waste Management.
• Hospital OR experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Move and transport patients within the operating room environment.
• Transport blood products, specimens, and equipment as needed.

Are you interested in joining a dynamic, fast-paced environment? The incumbent will perform duties as an Operating Room Assistant to include: patient moving and transport, blood products, specimens, and equipment transport; equipment maintenance, room readiness, restocking supplies, cleaning soiled rooms/supplies, storing and distributing anesthesia support materials. Other duties include but are not limited to customer service and departmental efficiencies. The OR Assistant is under the direct supervision of the Clinical Support Manager and Supervisors. Assignments are given according to organizational goals.
