Job summary

J Arthur Dosher Memorial Hospital in Southport, NC is seeking a dedicated hospital housekeeping associate to support the surgical department by maintaining a clean, safe environment around operating rooms and assisting with turnover between cases.

You will help transport patients as needed, stock supplies, set up equipment for procedures, and monitor eye wash stations and warming devices. BLS certification within six months is required.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Prior hospital experience preferred.
• Housekeeping experience preferred.
• BLS within first six months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Maintains cleanliness around operating rooms where surgeries take place.
• Performs cleaning services in surgical suites after each use within the required time frame.
• Cleans and ensures all surgical equipment is present, clean, and in working order.
• Assists with patient positioning in the operating room under direction of the nursing surgical team.
• Assists in the set-up of equipment for a surgical procedure.
• Maintains a steady level of productivity.
• Assists with transport of patients as needed.
• Stocking and restocking room supplies as needed.
• Performs daily checks and documentation of eye wash stations, blankets, and fluid warmers.

Description

The ORA maintains a clean, healthful environment for patients and personnel in the surgical department. Assists in efficient turnover of operating rooms between cases. Assists in the transport of patients to and from the surgical department. Order supplies as necessary to keep levels correct.

Functions of the Position (not an exhaustive list):

1. Manages and maintains the cleanliness around the operating rooms where surgeries take place
2. Performs cleaning services in the surgical department, to include sweeping & mopping of surgical suites after each use within the stated expected time frame
3. Handles and cleans all equipment required for surgery. Ensuring all tools and parts are present, clean and in working order for the procedure
4. Assists with patient positioning in the operating room under direction of the nursing surgical team
5. Assists in the 'set-up' of equipment for a surgical procedure
6. Maintain a steady level of productivity
7. Assist with transport of patients as needed
8. Stocking and restocking room supplies as needed
9. Performs daily checks / monitoring and documentation of eye wash stations, blanket and fluid warmers etc.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

• A high school diploma or GED equivalent
• Prior experience in a hospital setting preferred
• Housekeeping experience preferred
• BLS within first six months of hire

SKILLS:

• Knowledge of working around a sterile field without causing contamination
