Job summary

The Kansas City VA Medical Center, part of the Veterans Health Administration, is recruiting for a Health Technician (Optometry) to support ophthalmic care and clinic operations. You will help measure visual acuity, document patient information, and assist with eyeglass dispensing and basic eye care tasks.

The role involves coordinating with eye care providers, maintaining instruments, and delivering patient education on eye health and vision conditions.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of basic eye anatomy and function.
• Ability to obtain, document and record ophthalmic and medical information from patients.
• Ability to perform minor eyeglass repairs and adjustments.

Responsibilities

• Measure and record visual acuity and preliminary optical status.
• Assist optometrist/ophthalmologist during exams and procedures.
• Provide patient education on eye health and lens care.
• Perform minor eyeglass repairs and frame adjustments.
• Enter refractive findings and spectacle measurements in patient records.
