Job summary

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• One year related experience in an Optometry Clinic preferred.
• Knowledge of general office practices in a clinical environment and ability to perform a broad range of duties.

Responsibilities

• Performs frame measurement and adjustment to maximize eyeglass performance and verifies eyeglass prescription.
• Performs supplemental tests as directed by the Optometrist including pupil assessment, visual fields, visual acuity, color perception, intraocular pressure.
• Instills diagnostic or therapeutic pharmacological agents into patient’s eyes as instructed by the Optometrist.
• Prepares instruments and equipment and ensures adequate supplies before clinics start.
• Inputs referrals for patients needing care outside the Division of Health.
• Maintains records and statistics of clinical work and prepares activity reports.
• Orders eyeglass/contacts frames from manufacturers and maintains records of orders.
• Ensures availability of quality eyeglass frames through communication with optical labs.
• Regular attendance is required.
• Performs other duties as directed.
