Waimānalo Health Center in Hawaii is seeking a part-time Optometry Assistant to join our ahana and support our mission and values. You will work with the Optometrist to provide patient-focused care in a team-based setting, including assisting with vision procedures, scheduling, and insurance checks.

The role emphasizes compassionate, culturally respectful service and collaboration with the clinic team to ensure high-quality eye care for our community.

Summary

The Optometry Assistant will work in collaboration with the Optometrist and clinic staff to assess, plan, and provide exemplary patient care and implementation of care plans. Duties include, but are not limited to, explanation and performing of various vision procedures and tests, assisting optometrist with patient procedures, scheduling patient appointments, eligibility/insurance checks, and assisting patients with choosing eyeglasses and placing orders. The Optometry Assistant provides patient care in a holistic and culturally sensitive manner, in a team-based, patient-centered approach, as a part of Waimanalo Health Center’s Patient-Centered Health Care Home approach to care.
