SEARHC in Sitka, Alaska is seeking a part-time optometrist to join our established Mt. Edgecumbe Medical Center Eye Clinic, serving a diverse patient population.

You will provide comprehensive eye care, coordinate co-management, supervise staff, and travel to regional field clinics to support rural communities.

Responsibilities

• May sponsor Dispensing Optician Apprentices.
• May precept and mentor optometry students.
• Support departmental compliance with all applicable regulatory agencies and SEARHC policies.

Compensation & Benefits

Compensation Salary: 0.5FTE:

$101,000- $112,000 based on years of experience.

Schedule and Work-Life Balance

Workweek: 0.5 FTE

Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., Eight-hour shifts and no call.

Generous Time Off

(132 hours) annually, including holidays, and 5 additional days of CME.

Practice Details

Clinic Facilities: Fully equipped clinic with 2 exam rooms, 1 testing room.

Patient Volume: ~14 patients per day with 2:1 Assistant.

Technology: Meditech EMR, OCT, visual field, retinal cameras, Pentacam, Zeiss Forum, Expanding laser capabilities.

Regional & Outreach Care: Primarily based in Sitka with traveling to field clinics in communities such as Haines, Wrangell, Angoon, and Kake. Full-service care in rural settings.

Provide comprehensive eye care including but not limited to diagnosis, treatment, minor procedures, coordination of care, referrals, consultations, patient or community education and co-management as applicable.
