General Role Description

At Kelsey-Seybold Clinic, our Optometrists examine people’s eyes to diagnose vision problems and eye diseases, and test patients’ visual acuity, depth and color perception, along with their ability to focus and coordinate the eyes. They prescribe eyeglasses and contact lenses and provide vision therapy and low-vision rehabilitation. They analyze test results and develop a treatment plan, administer drugs to patients to aid in the diagnosis of vision problems and prescribe drugs to treat some eye diseases. They often provide preoperative and postoperative care to cataract patients who have been referred to one of our Ophthalmologists, as well as to patients who have had laser vision correction or another eye surgery. As part of their job description they diagnose conditions caused by systemic diseases such as diabetes and high blood pressure, referring patients to other specialists within the Kelsey-Seybold family as needed.

We offer comprehensive care for a wide range of conditions ranging from routine vision exams to cutting edge treatments for eye disorders. Kelsey-Seybold’s optometrists and coordinate eye care to detect, repair and prevent eye problems to help protect our patient’s vision for life.

Required Qualifications

  • Medical Degree (MD, DO)
  • Licensed or willing to be licensed in the State of Texas
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible
  • Driver’s License and access to a reliable transportation

Preferred Qualification

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) fluency

The salary range for this role is $106,800 to $194,200 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
