General Function

The Associate Optometrist creates value by delivering and leading the execution of NECE. They collaborate with the Store Manager and Field Leadership to maintain a safe, motivating environment that fosters commitment, innovation, success, and growth.

Major Duties & Responsibilities
  1. Provide excellent patient/customer service, leading the execution of NECE.
  2. Assist with greeting patients and answering phones as needed.
  3. Conduct services according to clinical protocols and standards of care.
  4. Ensure accurate diagnoses and appropriate recommendations for patients.
  5. Establish positive relationships with patients.
  6. Coach Associate Doctors on clinical protocols and audit charts as needed.
  7. Communicate effectively with store staff to ensure a seamless eye care experience, including uncovering patient needs and transitioning to sales associates.
  8. Develop qualified staff through training in orientation, procedures, testing, communication, contact lens training, clinical protocols, and company policies.
  9. Encourage decision-making at the closest level to the patient and provide timely feedback.
  10. Address performance issues promptly and partner with the Store Manager on disciplinary actions and performance reviews.
  11. Collaborate with the Store Manager to achieve store targets, including sales, exam growth, profitability, and key performance indicators.
  12. Participate in recruiting and staffing planning based on business trends.
  13. Supervise inventory and ensure timely processing of vision care claims.
  14. Maintain the appearance of the office and store displays according to guidelines.
Basic Qualifications
  • Doctor of Optometry degree
  • Knowledge of current optometric technology and practices
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Organization and time management skills
