In this role, you will provide comprehensive eye care and work with a team to support a Native American community. Qualifications

• 2–3 years of family optometry experience is required.
• Certification in BLS is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide full-scope primary eye care independently.

• Prescribe eyewear and medications.
• Perform minor surgical procedures (foreign body removal, papilloma excision) and pre-/post-operative care.
• Coordinate follow-up and referrals as needed.

Position Details

• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
• Duration: Up to 1-year contract with potential extensions
• Setting: IHS facility – serving adults and pediatrics
• Experience Required: 2–3 years of family optometry
• Preferred: Previous Locum Tenens experience
• Certification: BLS required
• License: Any active U.S. state license accepted

Role & Responsibilities

• Provide full-scope primary eye care independently, with support staff assistance.
• Perform comprehensive eye exams, obtain and document medical histories in the EHR, and develop accurate diagnoses and effective treatment plans.
• Prescribe eyewear, contact lenses, and medications; order and interpret ancillary testing (OCT, visual fields, imaging, etc.).
• Perform minor surgical procedures (such as foreign body removal, papilloma excision) and provide pre- and post-operative care.
• Coordinate follow-up and referrals as needed.
