Job summary

Forniss Optometric in Indianapolis is seeking a full-time optometrist to conduct comprehensive eye exams and diagnose visual conditions. You will prescribe glasses, contacts, and medications, while educating patients and building lasting relationships to support practice growth.

The role includes pre- and postoperative care and collaboration with staff to deliver high-quality eyecare. Eligible clinicians often enjoy strong benefits and a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

  • Doctorate of Optometry from a credentialed institution.
  • Must have passed all optometric state boards.

Responsibilities

  • Establish long term patient relationships through proper patient care and education.
  • Performs verbal interview with patient prior to examination to determine health and ocular history, medical issues, reasons for their visit as well their visual wants and needs
  • Instructs, recommends and advises patients as to their options for remediation of ametropias, systemic and ocular disease as well as visual wants and needs.
  • Ability to generate patient loyalty and promote the profession of Optometry and Acuity Eyecare Group values
  • Perform vision tests and analyze results
  • Diagnose sight problems, such as nearsightedness or farsightedness and eye diseases
  • Prescribe eyeglasses, contact lenses, and medications
  • Recommend or provide treatments such as vision therapy or low-vision rehabilitation
  • Provide pre- and postoperative care to patients undergoing eye surgery
  • Evaluate patients for presence of diseases such as diabetes and refer patients to other healthcare providers
  • Promote eye health by counseling patients
  • Clearly communicating to the opticians and other sales people appropriate recommendations for lenses with latest technology coatings and designs
