Job summary

The Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine seeks an optometrist to join the comprehensive eye care division. The optometrist will work independently to provide primary ocular evaluations for patients at the outpatient clinic in Bethesda, MD.

Responsibilities include vision and medical eye exams within Maryland scope of practice, triage of urgent concerns, and potential co-management with subspecialists.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of an accredited optometry residency program, or minimum of three (3) years of experience in an ophthalmology practice setting.
• License in good standing in State of Maryland required. NPI required.

General Description The Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine is seeking an optometrist to join the Wilmer Eye Institute's comprehensive eye care division. This individual will work independently to provide primary ocular evaluations for patients at Wilmer Eye Institute's outpatient clinic location in Bethesda, MD.

Comprehensive care providers perform vision and medical eye exams within the bounds of individual licensure and Maryland's legal scope of practice. Common encounters include diabetic eye examinations; evaluation of dry eye disease, cataracts, and stable glaucoma; Plaquenil screenings; triage of urgent eye or vision concerns; and comanagement of postoperative patients. On-site referral/consultation for patients requiring surgical or advanced subspecialist care in glaucoma, retina, cornea, neuro-ophthalmology, oculoplastics, and low vision rehabilitation. Vision care services include prescription of glasses and soft contact lenses, with the opportunity to build a practice in specialty therapeutic contact lenses. An on-site optical is available with a team of licensed opticians and high-quality materials.

Salary Range

The referenced salary range represents the minimum and maximum salaries for this position and is based on Johns Hopkins University's good faith belief at the time of posting. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. The actual compensation offered to the selected candidate may vary and will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the successful candidate's geographic location, skills, work experience, internal equity, market conditions, education/training and other factors, as reasonably determined by the University.
