Formación

Role Description

The Optometrist will provide comprehensive eye examinations, diagnose and manage a variety of ocular conditions, and co-manage surgical patients in collaboration with the ophthalmology team. Day-to-day responsibilities include performing refractions, prescribing corrective lenses, evaluating ocular health, and providing ongoing management for conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts, diabetic eye disease, and dry eye. The Optometrist will educate patients on their diagnoses, treatment options, and preventive care, and maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation. This is a full-time, on-site role located in Wilmington, DE, working closely with clinical staff to ensure efficient patient flow and a positive patient experience.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited institution and current, unrestricted optometry license (or eligibility) in the state of Delaware.
• Clinical expertise in comprehensive eye exams, refraction, and prescribing eyeglasses and contact lenses, with strong diagnostic skills in common ocular diseases.
• Experience or strong interest in medical optometry, including management of glaucoma, cataracts, diabetic eye disease, dry eye, and co-management of surgical patients.
• Ability to deliver patient-centered care, including clear communication of findings, treatment plans, and education tailored to diverse patient populations.
• Strong collaboration skills for working within a multidisciplinary team, including ophthalmologists, technicians, and front-office staff.
• Attention to detail and proficiency in electronic health records, documentation, and adherence to clinical guidelines and regulatory requirements.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development, openness to practice protocols, and interest in contributing to a positive, supportive clinical environment.
• Prior experience in a medical or surgical eye care practice is preferred but not required; new graduates with strong clinical training are encouraged to apply.
