Responsibilities of the Optometrist:
  • Perform thorough routine eye examinations.
  • Assess patients’ visual acuity, field of vision, and hand-eye coordination.
  • Diagnose sight problems such as nearsightedness and color blindness.
  • Prescribe corrective lenses and medications.
  • Maintain accurate medical records for all patients.
  • Educate patients on eye health and proper eye care techniques.
  • Identify and evaluate eye conditions and diseases, including those related to systemic conditions like diabetes and liver disease.
  • Document all diagnoses and treatment plans, including transfers and therapeutic prescriptions.
