Location and hours:
This position is located on-site at the NorthPoint Health and Wellness Center, 2220 Plymouth Avenue North, Minneapolis, MN 55411 .The work schedule will be flexible and negotiable, with the possibility of working up to 24 hours per week, depending on availability and may include occasional evenings or Saturday shifts. New Employee Orientation (NEO) for all new benefit-earning employees is in-person in downtown Minneapolis. Details about NEO will be provided upon hire.

In this position, you will:
- Examine eyes to determine visual efficiency and performance by means of instrumentation and observation and prescribes corrective procedures.
- Conserve, improve, and correct vision through use of lenses, prisms, orthoptic exercises, visual training, and control of the visual environment.
- Examine and treat patients for visual pathology or ocular manifestations of systemic disease and refers those with pathological conditions to appropriate specialists when necessary.
- Examine and treat patients with acute eye problems such as infections and foreign bodies.
- Assist in establishing optometric service policies and procedures.
- Supervise ancillary staff.
- Assist in community health screenings.
- Provide current vision-related educational material to clinic staff.
Need to have:- Doctor of Optometry degree from an optometric school or college approved by the Minnesota State Board of Optometry.
- A valid license as an optometrist issued by the State of Minnesota.
- Certification of Diagnostic and Therapeutic Pharmacology; must maintain Schedule IV and V licensure for DEA controlled substances.
Nice to have:- Experience with:
- Visualfields, OCT, and fundus photography.
- Glaucoma diagnosis and treatment and diabetic eye examinations.
- Epic or another similar electronic health record.
- Knowledge of the theory, techniques, and practices of optometry.
- Ability to communicate proficiently in English and an additional language (Spanish or Hmong preferred).
- A desire to work in a multi-cultural, multi-disciplinary setting.
- Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with patients and clinic staff.
