It’s Work That Matters.
Position Summary: The Optometrist evaluates patients with potential eye or vision problems referred by pediatricians. Responsibilities include obtaining medical histories, performing eye examinations at the Vision Center, treating optometric conditions, and triaging ophthalmic cases to pediatric ophthalmologists. The role also involves assisting physicians and division staff with various patient activities.
Minimum Qualifications: At least 2 years of optometry practice focusing on children, contact lens fitting, and pediatric refractions. Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred. Must have thorough knowledge of modern examination procedures, equipment, and contact lens materials and designs. Ability to comfort infants and children during eye exams and contact lens fittings. Candidates who have recently completed a pediatric fellowship will also be considered.
Education/Licensure/Certifications: Graduation from an accredited optometry school, completion of a Pediatric Optometry fellowship or equivalent of 3+ years in Pediatric Optometry, California Board of Optometry license, and AHA BLS certification.

CHLA values each team member's contribution. Final starting pay depends on factors such as education and experience. The listed pay scale applies to candidates meeting the listed qualifications.
