Position Overview:

Living Water Clinic - Clínica Agua Viva is seeking a compassionate and community-minded Optometrist to join our growing healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality, comprehensive eye care while building meaningful relationships with patients and families throughout California's Central Valley.

This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact in an underserved community while working in a mission-driven, multidisciplinary healthcare environment . This position is available as full-time or part-time , with flexible scheduling options.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide comprehensive eye examinations and routine vision assessments.
  • Evaluate and manage refractive errors and prescribe eyeglasses and contact lenses.
  • Diagnose and manage common ocular conditions .
  • Perform ocular disease screenings and monitor patients' eye health.
  • Provide diabetic eye examinations and retinal health screenings.
  • Screen for glaucoma, cataracts, and other ocular conditions .
  • Provide vision care to pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients .
  • Identify ocular manifestations of systemic diseases and coordinate appropriate care.
  • Educate patients and families on eye health, preventive care, and treatment options .
  • Coordinate referrals to ophthalmologists and other specialists when appropriate.
  • Collaborate with primary care providers and other healthcare professionals to support comprehensive patient care.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Provide compassionate, culturally sensitive, and patient-centered care .
  • Support the growth and development of the Optometry program .
Requirements:

Licensure & Certification

  • Current and valid California Optometrist license.
  • Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited institution.
  • Current professional certifications and registrations required to practice in California.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required upon hire.
  • Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills .
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills .
  • Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills .
  • Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems and clinical documentation.
  • Commitment to preventive care, early detection, and patient education .
  • Passion for improving access to quality healthcare within Central Valley communities.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience providing comprehensive optometric care to patients of various ages.
  • Experience working in a multidisciplinary healthcare setting .
  • Experience with diabetic eye examinations and ocular disease management .
  • Interest in helping develop and expand an Optometry program .
  • Experience serving diverse or underserved patient populations .
