VA Detroit seeks an entry-level Optometrist to conduct ocular health examinations and provide primary eye care services, including education and referrals. This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program approval, award amount (up to $200,000), and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00-4:30 pm
Incentives: Recruitment and relocation incentives may be authorized. EDRP participation is limited to eligible applicants.
Requirements include: U.S. citizenship, English proficiency, background/security investigation, pre-employment physical, seasonal influenza vaccination, and others as detailed.
Qualifications: Must have a Doctor of Optometry degree from an accredited school, licensure in the U.S., and meet grade-specific experience requirements. Completion of an accredited residency or 5 years of practice preferred. Must be proficient in English and meet physical and travel requirements.
