Douglas & Leisner Optometry in Chester, VA, is seeking a full-time Optometrist with near-term partnership ambitions to join our private, locally owned practice in the Richmond metro area.

You will provide comprehensive eye care with emphasis on medical management, including treatment of ocular disease, infections and injuries, plus pre- and post-operative care, while maintaining high patient rapport and efficient clinic flow on-site.

Qualifications

• OD degree and Virginia license/eligibility.
• Experience in comprehensive eye exams and ocular disease management.
• Experience with contact lens fitting and accurate eyeglass prescriptions.
• Ability to collaborate with optical, clinic staff and OD colleagues.
• Strong patient communication and preventive care guidance.
• Accurate clinical records and efficient workflow in a busy practice.
• Proficiency with practice technologies (EHR, diagnostics).
• Private practice or medical optometry setting preferred; residency/advanced training a plus.
• Willingness to work full-time on-site and contribute to office culture.

Douglas & Leisner Optometry is seeking a full-time Optometrist with near-term partnership ambitions to join our established, locally owned private practice in Chester, VA (Richmond metro area). We are looking for a motivated doctor with strong clinical skills and excellent patient rapport to join our patient-oriented team.

In this role, you will use your clinical skills to care for vision needs, emphasizing medical management, including treating ocular disease, infections, and injuries and managing pre- and post-operative care.

As part of a doctor-led leadership team, you will provide guidance to staff as you motivate them to succeed alongside you, overseeing patient care and office flow, assist with ongoing staff training during clinic and staff meetings, and collaborate with the Partner ODs and Practice Managers on office management and growth strategies.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited institution and current, unrestricted license to practice optometry in Virginia (or eligibility to obtain).
• Demonstrated skills in comprehensive eye exams, diagnosis and management of ocular disease, and provision of pre- and post-surgical care.
• Experience with contact lens fitting, including specialty and custom lenses, and accurate eyeglass prescriptions.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with optical, clinic staff and fellow OD's to deliver coordinated patient care.
• Strong patient communication skills, including clear explanation of diagnoses, treatment options, and preventive care guidance.
• Commitment to maintaining accurate, compliant clinical records and working efficiently in a busy, full-scope optometry practice.
• Comfort with practice technologies, such as electronic health records and diagnostic equipment.
• Prior experience in a private practice or medical optometry setting is preferred; residency or advanced clinical training is a plus.
• Ability to work full-time on-site, provide consistent patient-centered care, and contribute positively to practice culture.
