Job summary

HealthDrive is seeking an Optometrist to provide mobile eye care across Asheville, NC and Western North Carolina. The clinician will join a team that handles scheduling, billing, and administration so you can focus on patient care.

Qualifications

• Optometry background with proficiency in assessment, treatment, and management of eye conditions.
• Ability to work independently on a daily basis.
• Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Familiarity with EMR, texting, email and related healthcare software.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive exams and diagnose age-related ocular diseases and injuries.
• Prescribe spectacles and manage vision testing.
• Document patient information in the EMR according to coding guidelines.
• Populate billing codes accurately for services rendered to patients.
• Adhere to OSHA guidelines for patient care and sterilization.

Responsibilities

Role Overview & Responsibilities for Optometrist:

• Conduct comprehensive exams, diagnose, treat and manage age-related ocular diseases, injuries and disorders of the eye.
• Traditional daily patient care will also include vision testing and prescribing spectacle lenses.
• Complete required patient and clinical documentation in our optometry electronic medical record system.
• Responsible for applying proper coding guidelines and populating appropriate billing codes for services provided to patients.
• Adheres to OSHA guidelines regarding patient care, disposal of materials, and sterilization of equipment.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

• Optometry background with proficiency in the assessment, treatment, management and evaluation of eye conditions and disorders.
• Ability to work independently on a daily basis.
• Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Ability to use EMR, text, email, the internet and to learn other healthcare related software.
• Self starter attitude with the desire to deliver quality, thoughtful and attentive care.

Physical Requirements for Optometrist:

• Ability to stand, to bend, and to lift.
• Ability to transport optometry equipment (maximum of 15 lbs.).
• May be occasionally required to transport patients in wheelchairs.

Education & Qualifications:

• O.D.
• Current State professional license.
• Valid driver’s license.

Travel:

This is a mobile position. Daily travel is based on the patient care requirements for the specified service area; your Practice. A valid driver’s license and the ability to drive significant distances on occasion is required.
