Job description

Responsibilities:

1. Assist optometrist in performing eye exams and tests
2. Take patient medical history and record relevant information
3. Perform preliminary tests such as visual acuity, color vision, and depth perception
4. Conduct diagnostic tests such as tonometry and visual field testing
5. Prepare patients for contact lens fittings and assist with contact lens insertion and removal
6. Educate patients on proper eye care and contact lens hygiene
7. Maintain cleanliness and organization of examination rooms and equipment
8. Assist with front desk duties such as scheduling appointments, answering phone calls, and verifying insurance information

Experience:

1. Previous experience as an optometric technician or in a related field preferred
2. Knowledge of pediatric optometry, ophthalmology, and optical procedures is a plus
3. Familiarity with medical billing, coding, and insurance processes is beneficial
4. Proficiency in taking vital signs and performing basic medical procedures using aseptic technique is desirable
5. Strong communication skills to interact with patients, colleagues, and vendors
6. Sales experience or knowledge of optical products is advantageous
7. Understanding of ocular anatomy, physiology, and common eye conditions
