Optometric Technician - Medical Assistant

The optometric technician plays a key role in ensuring efficient patient flow by assisting the optometrist with pre-screenings and testing before examinations. No optical experience or certification is required; training is provided!

Responsibilities:

• Ensure high-quality patient care.
• Maintain a professional environment in the office and pretest room.
• Understand ocular terminology, diseases, and abbreviations.
• Explain preliminary examinations to patients.
• Complete paperwork and perform testing prior to doctor examinations.
• Promote visual field testing and retinal screenings.
• Perform exam pre-screening.
• Review prescriptions and patient information carefully, consulting with team members when necessary.
• Maintain equipment properly.

Ideal Candidate:

• Previous retail/optical experience preferred but not required.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Willingness to learn optical terminology and procedures.
• Ability to instruct customers clearly.
• Effective interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Attention to detail, multitasking, and time management abilities.
• Professional appearance and attitude.
