Job summary

MedElite is seeking a reliable Optometric Technician to assist optometrists with eye exams and health assessments in skilled nursing and long-term care facilities. You will gain exposure to a geriatric population and work closely with clinical providers to detect and manage vision conditions.

Responsibilities include performing visual acuity tests, autorefractor measurements, and ocular imaging while documenting findings and maintaining equipment. Travel to facilities is required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of an Optometric Technician or Ophthalmic Technician training program preferred.
  • Certification (e.g., CPO, ABO) preferred but not required.
  • Prior experience in optometry or ophthalmology strongly preferred.
  • Experience in skilled nursing or long-term care settings a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and technical proficiency.
  • Excellent communication and patient-care skills.
  • Comfortable working with the geriatric population.
  • Prolonged standing/walking; operating diagnostic equipment; lifting/moving patients.
  • Ability to travel as needed.

  • Maintain and clean ophthalmic equipment in safety standards.
  • Support eyeglass fittings, adjustments, and patient education.
  • Collaborate with optometrists, advanced providers, and facility staff.
  • Travel to skilled nursing and long-term care facilities as assigned.

Location: Philadelphia, PA

Schedule: 9:00am- 5:30pm

Employment Type: 1099

Total Annual Compensation: $50,000-$60,000 ($8-$10 per pt.)

Job Summary
