Job summary

Dr Gary Gold & Associates Optometry in Sunnyvale, CA is seeking an Optometric Technician I to support eye care by pre-screening, testing, and educating patients. You will work with optometrists to ensure high-quality patient experiences and accurate documentation of exams and procedures.

You will also help with contact lens training, insurance verification, and scheduling, while maintaining a smooth patient flow and contributing to team goals in a fast-paced clinic.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of customer service experience (optometric experience preferred but not required)
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
• Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
• Detail-focused with accurate documentation of patient exams
• Flexible scheduling and proactive team approach

What You’ll Do:

• Assist optometrists in delivering outstanding patient care, from pre-screening to post-exam follow-up
• Perform diagnostic tests, gather patient medical histories, and assist in educating patients about their vision benefits
• Guide patients in contact lens training, insurance verification, and scheduling their next visit
• Ensure smooth patient flow by coordinating appointments and managing office communications
• Work closely with your team to meet individual and collective goals for optimal patient care and satisfaction

What We’re Looking For:

• 1+ year of experience in customer service (optometric experience preferred but not required!)
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to educate and connect with patients
• Strong organizational and time management abilities—you’ll be multitasking in a fast-paced environment
