Heart Of Florida Health Center Inc. is seeking an Optometric Technician/Patient Services Representative to provide clinical and front-office support.

You will perform pre-testing, assist with diagnostics and eyewear services, and manage patient registration, insurance verification, and payments. You will bridge clinical care with customer service, ensuring accurate records, smooth patient flow, and financial transparency.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or related certification preferred.
• Certification as a CPO or willingness to obtain within 12 months preferred.
• Experience in optometry/ophthalmology setting highly preferred.
• Bilingual ability preferred but not required.
• Proficient with computers and EHR systems.

Responsibilities

• Conducts patient pre-testing including visual acuity, autorefraction, and retinal imaging.
• Documents patient history, medications, and symptoms in the EHR.
• Prepares patients for exams and assists during diagnostics or contact lens procedures.
• Provides patient education on eyewear care and eye health.
• Orders, dispenses, and adjusts eyewear; maintains inventory.
• Greets and registers patients; verifies insurance eligibility and collects payments.
• Balances daily transactions and educates about sliding fee scales and policies.
• Schedules appointments and manages recall lists.
• Maintains front office and exam area cleanliness and organization.
• Supports portal access and coordinates with billing staff.

Job SummaryThe Optometric Technician/Patient Services Representative provides both clinical and front-office support to ensure efficient and compassionate delivery of optometric care. This role conducts patient pre-testing, assists with diagnostic procedures, and supports the optometrist in examinations and eyewear services. Additionally, the technician performs patient registration, insurance verification, and payment collection to maintain accurate records and smooth patient flow.
