Job Summary:
Provides assistive services and support to the Optometrist in the delivery of patient-focused eye care. Balances multiple priorities to complete assigned tasks in a team-oriented environment.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Upholds Kaiser Permanente's Policies and Procedures, Principles of Responsibilities, and applicable laws.
- Prepares examination and pre-screening rooms by cleaning, setting up equipment and instruments, and stocking supplies.
- Reviews appointment schedules to determine patient visit order, makes appointments, and discusses fees and co-payments with patients as needed.
- Greets and escorts patients, instructs and assists in preparation for procedures.
- Pre-screens patients, including completing case history, conducting tests such as visual acuity, auto lensometry, auto-refraction, keratometry, NCT, stereopsis, color testing, ocular motility, and pupillary screening.
- Performs automated visual fields following policies and procedures.
- Assists Optometrist with patient data documentation.
- Performs clerical duties such as filing, record keeping, answering calls, and light typing.
- Performs additional duties as assigned, including training new employees, transporting equipment and patients, stocking supplies, and inventory management.
- Maintains courteous and cooperative interactions with personnel, members, and the public.
- Performs other duties as required.
