Job summary

Star Catcher in Jacksonville, FL seeks an Opto-Mechanical Engineer to design, analyze and integrate opto‑mechanical systems for the Star Catcher Network and space missions. You will partner with mechanical and optical teams to meet mission requirements and drive robust, reliable hardware.

The role requires five+ years in opto‑mechanical design in aerospace or related fields, Zemax/CodeV, and hands-on testing and metrology experience. Strong problem‑solving and documentation skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Optical Engineering or related field; Master’s/PhD preferred.
• At least five years designing, analyzing and building opto‑mechanical systems in aerospace or related industry.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop opto‑mechanical systems, including optics, structures and alignment mechanisms.
• Bridge mechanical and optical teams during system design.
• Ensure compliance with mission and optical performance requirements.
• Lead onsite precision alignment, mounting and stabilization efforts.
• Develop test and validation plans; perform performance and reliability testing.
