Job summary

Monarch Quantum, Inc. is seeking a Senior Principal Opto-Electronics Test Engineer to design and scale automated test infrastructure, from device characterization to system validation.

You will architect data flows, instrument control, and calibration processes to ensure repeatable, high-quality measurements across development and production environments. The role combines hands-on testing with engineering leadership and standards adherence.

Qualifications

• B.S. or M.S. in Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field; Ph.D. a plus but not required.
• 10+ years of hands-on opto-electronic test and characterization experience in an industrial or R&D environment — telecom, datacom, optical interconnect, or laser systems strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Architect, develop, and maintain automated test systems for opto-electronic device and subsystem characterization.
• Define standardized test methodologies across device, module, and system levels with traceability from test results to specs.
• Drive selection, procurement, and qualification of test equipment — OSA, power meters, lock‑in amplifiers, network analyzers, oscilloscopes.
• Develop software-controlled test sequences using Python, LabVIEW, or equivalents; integrate instrument control with data workflows.
• Maintain calibration records and measurement uncertainty budgets for critical test assets.
• Lead system-level validation campaigns and define test plans, acceptance criteria, and failure mode coverage.
• Collaborate with systems engineers and physicists to validate opto-electronic system performance against AMO requirements.
