Options Counselor - VDC Program - Remote Position, DC

OPTIONS COUNSELOR - VDC PROGRAM - Remote Position, MD VAMC

Peninsula Agency on Aging (PAA) is currently seeking an individual to serve as the Options Counselor for the Veteran’s Directed Care (VDC) Program. The role involves providing case management and service coordination for eligible VAMC clients in MD, DC, and VA.

Key Responsibilities

As the Options Counselor for the VDC Program, you will advise veterans and/or their caregivers on available services and resources to support aging in place. You will utilize interview skills to screen and complete assessments, provide options counseling, and develop comprehensive plans of care and service plans for veterans.

Essential Skills and Experience

Applicants should have a combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in social work, human services, or a related field. Candidates must be residents of Maryland, DC, or Northern Virginia, with experience working with veterans and/or disabled adults, case management skills, and excellent interviewing, oral, and written communication skills. Proficiency with computers, software, and mobile technology is required. A valid driver’s license, insurance, personal vehicle, and willingness to travel within Maryland, DC, and Virginia are necessary. Being a licensed Notary or willingness to become one is preferred. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to model our values and be willing to get vaccinated as recommended.

This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm, 40 hours/week, with a pay range of $22.66 - $24.02 per hour. Individuals aged 60 and over are encouraged to apply.
