Job summary

Rochester Precision Optics in Rochester, NY, is seeking a Technical Program Manager to lead complex customer programs from award to delivery, coordinating engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain and operations.

The successful candidate will translate requirements into actionable plans, manage schedules and budgets, drive cross-functional collaboration, and report progress to customers and leadership while pursuing continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related discipline; engineering strongly preferred.
  • 5–7 years of experience leading customer-facing programs in a technical environment.
  • Experience managing cross-functional teams, multiple stakeholders, and aggressive schedules.
  • Understanding technical requirements and translating them into executable plans.
  • Experience with program schedules, budgets, resources, risks, and deliverables.
  • Familiarity with federal contracting or DoD environments preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead complex customer programs from contract award through production and final delivery, ensuring commitments are met.
  • Serve as the primary customer contact, communicating status, milestones, risks, and deliverables.
  • Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Contracts, and Business Development to drive execution.
  • Translate customer requirements into actionable plans and priorities.
  • Develop integrated program schedules, resource plans, budgets, and performance metrics.
  • Lead cross-functional reviews and ensure timely decisions and actions.
  • Identify and mitigate program risks and resource constraints.
  • Remove obstacles, drive accountability, and maintain focus on objectives.
  • Monitor performance against milestones and budgets; implement corrective actions.
  • Manage scope changes and customer requests; assess impacts on cost, schedule and resources.
  • Support proposal development, quoting, and planning with schedule, resource, cost, and risk input.
  • Collaborate with operations and engineering for product development to production and ongoing success.
  • Prepare updates and forecasts for customers, leadership, and executives.
  • Drive continuous improvement in program execution, customer satisfaction, and efficiency.
  • Maintain program documentation, financial tracking, and revenue forecasting.
