Job summary

MKS Instruments, Inc. in Massachusetts is seeking a Manufacturing Technician to support the optics department. You will fabricate replicated optics, using epoxy and precision tooling, and report to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager.

You will replicate substrates, prepare submasters, and evaluate cosmetic quality of surfaces while following strict work instructions and procedures. This role emphasizes manual dexterity and careful handling in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Ability to read/interpret blueprints, schematics, manufacturing processes, and test procedures preferred.
• Optics experience preferred.
• Able to perform repetitive tasks.
• Familiarity with the use of Microsoft Excel.
• Must be able to read and write English, good verbal communication skills, good visual acuity, and good manual dexterity. Work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to understand and follow required work instructions and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Replicate small/simple substrates through final product including the use of epoxy.
• Separate, trim, and clean mirror products.
• Prepare substrates, including vapor hone, mask, bake-out, tooling re-processing.
• Prepare master optics, including non-destructive cleaning and handling.
• Prepare submasters, chemical/mechanical processing, cleaning, fixturing.
• Use mechanical measurement equipment, including calipers, micrometers, gage blocks.
• Evaluate cosmetic quality of polished and coated surfaces.
