Job summary

MKS Instruments, Newport Corp in the optics department is seeking a Manufacturing Technician to fabricate replicated optics, using polished masters, precision tooling and epoxy under supervision of the Manufacturing Engineering Manager.

You will replicate substrates, trim and clean mirrors, prepare masters and submasters, and evaluate cosmetic quality, while reading blueprints and using Excel for basic data. A strong manual dexterity and ability to work independently are essential.

Qualifications

• Able to read/interpret blueprints, schematics, processes and test procedures.
• Cleanroom experience is a plus.
• Optics experience preferred.
• Able to perform repetitive tasks.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Excel.
• Must be able to read and write English, good verbal communication skills, good visual acuity, and good manual dexterity.
• Work independently with minimal supervision and follow required work instructions.

Responsibilities

• Replicate substrates and final products using epoxy.
• Separate, trim, and clean mirror products.
• Prepare substrates (vapor hone, mask, bake-out, tooling re-processing).
• Prepare master optics and submasters, including cleaning and handling.
• Perform chemical/mechanical processing and fixturing for submasters.
• Use measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, gage blocks).
• Evaluate cosmetic quality of polished and coated surfaces.
