Job summary

MACIAS FAMILY EYE CARE INC in Riverside, CA is seeking an Optician to assist patients in selecting eyewear and contact lenses based on lifestyle and needs. You will take facial measurements, explain pricing and insurance coverage, and ensure HIPAA confidentiality.

Ideal candidates have strong customer service and communication skills, experience in an optometry setting, and Spanish language ability to help a diverse patient base.

Qualifications

• Spanish speaking required.
• California optician license required.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.
• HIPAA confidentiality knowledge.
• Experience in an optometrist's office preferred.

Responsibilities

• Meet and talk with patients to learn their needs for eyewear
• Make suggestions on frames, and assist patients in choosing the best option for them
• Take facial measurements to ensure a perfect frame fit
• Prepare specific orders for the ophthalmic lab
• Explain pricing, insurance, and payment options to the patient thoroughly
• Operate under all HIPAA and confidentiality regulations
• Answer phones and schedule appointments and actively work to fill cancellations or avoid no shows
• Confirm upcoming visits.
• Verify insurance eligibility and authorizations online
