Comprehensive Mobile Care (CMC) is seeking an Optician / Medical Assistant to support senior outpatient clinics across multiple clinics around San Diego, California — one clinic per day. This is a compassionate, mission-driven healthcare position focused on delivering quality vision care to seniors and underserved communities.

You will work in a structured environment, with opportunities to cross-train in additional clinical areas such as audiology and podiatry, while maintaining high standards

Qualifications

• Bilingual Spanish proficiency required.
• Experience assisting optometry or ophthalmic care is preferred.
• Knowledge of OSHA and infection control standards is a plus.
• Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Assist the optometrist with patient intake, visual screenings, and basic diagnostic testing.
• Communicate clearly with patients in Spanish and English.
• Assist with eyewear selection, adjustments, fittings, and basic repairs.
• Set up, break down, and maintain portable optometry equipment.
• Follow sterilization, safety, and infection control protocols.
• Complete basic documentation, charting, and administrative tasks.
• Represent CMC with professionalism, compassion, and reliability.

What You’ll Do

• Assist the optometrist with patient intake, visual screenings, and basic diagnostic testing
• Communicate clearly and compassionately with patients, including Spanish and English speaking patients
• Assist with eyewear selection, adjustments, fittings, and basic repairs
• Set up, break down, and maintain portable optometry equipment
• Follow sterilization, safety, and infection control protocols
• Complete basic documentation, charting, and administrative tasks
• Represent CMC with professionalism, compassion, and reliability

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience as an Optician or Optometric Technician preferred
• Medical Assisting experience is a plus
• Bilingual Spanish proficiency required
• Experience serving geriatric or senior populations preferred
• Strong understanding of OSHA and infection control standards
• Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license required
• Able to lift and transport equipment, typically 25–50 lbs
• Must be able to pass a federal background check and drug screening
• Professional, punctual, and able to work independently
