Job summary

Incredible Emerald Eye Center, Inc is seeking a dedicated Optician to join our fast-paced ophthalmology practice with an on-site optical shop. You will assist clients in selecting frames, take measurements, and prepare orders for grinding lenses.

The ideal candidate has 1–2 years of experience, an Associates degree or vocational training, strong communication, and the ability to enhance profitability while delivering quality service. We offer a flexible schedule and opportunities for advancement.

Qualifications

• Associates degree preferred; vocational training acceptable.
• 1–2 years of on-the-job training or apprenticeship.

Responsibilities

• Perform vision acuity tests, visual field testing, and ophthalmic diagnostics (autorefraction, OCT, fundus photo).
• Measure customers for eyeglass size; coordinate frames with facial/eye measurements and prescriptions.
• May reshape frames and prepare work orders for grinding lenses and fabricating eyewear.
• Heat/shape/bend frames to fit clients using pliers.
• Assist clients in frame selection matching style and color to facial measurements and prescriptions.
• Maintain records of prescriptions, work orders, and payments.
• The company reserves the right to add or change duties at any time.
• Experience with VSP, EyeMed and other vision plans must.

We are a fast-paced independent Ophthalmology practice with fast-growing Optical on the site. We are excited to add a new Optician to our team.

This is a great opportunity for an ambitious person who can provide great quality of service, manage an optical dispensary, and can help to achieve high profitability.

General Accountabilities

• Perform vision acuity test, visual field, and ophthalmic diagnostic testing: autorefraction, OCT, and fundus photo.
• Measure customer for size of eyeglasses and coordinate frames with facial and eye measurements and optical prescription.
• May shape or reshape frames.
• Prepare work orders and instructions for grinding lenses and fabricating eyeglasses.
• Heat, shape, or bend plastic or metal frames to adjust eyeglasses to fit clients using pliers.
• Assist clients in selecting frames according to style and color and ensure that frames are coordinated with facial and eye measurements and optical prescriptions.
• Maintain records of customer prescriptions, work orders, and payments.

Job Qualifications

• Education: Associates Degree preferred, but vocational school is acceptable
• Experience: Appropriate certifications and/ or licensures with 1-2 years of on-the-job training or Apprenticeship
