Job summary

Emerald Eye center, Inc is seeking a full time or Part time Optician for a fast-paced independent Ophthalmology practice with a growing Optical on site.

This role entails managing the optical dispensary, providing high-quality service, and contributing to profitability. The candidate will perform vision tests, assist clients in frame selection, and coordinate with optical prescriptions.

Qualifications

• Performs vision acuity tests and ophthalmic diagnostics including autorefraction, OCT, and fundus photography.
• Measures eyewear to match facial/eye measurements and optical prescription.
• Shapes, reshapes or adjusts frames as needed.
• Prepares work orders for grinding lenses and fabricating eyeglasses.

Responsibilities

• Heat, shape, or bend plastic or metal frames to fit clients.
• Assist customers in frame selection by style and color; ensure alignment with prescriptions.
• Maintain records of prescriptions, work orders, and payments.
• Company reserves right to change duties as needed.
• Experience with vision plans (VSP, EyeMed) preferred.
• Education: Associates degree preferred, vocational school acceptable.

SALARY:

$24.00 to $28.00 per hour

• Perform vision acuity test, visual field, and ophthalmic diagnostic testing: autorefraction, OCT, and fundus photo.
• Measure customer for size of eyeglasses and coordinate frames with facial and eye measurements and optical prescription.
• May shape or reshape frames.
• Prepare work orders and instructions for grinding lenses and fabricating eyeglasses.
• Heat, shape, or bend plastic or metal frames to adjust eyeglasses to fit clients using pliers.
• Assist clients in selecting frames according to style and color and ensure that frames are coordinated with facial and eye measurements and optical prescriptions.
• Maintain records of customer prescriptions, work orders, and payments.

• Experience with VSP, Eye Med and other vision plans must
• Education: Associates Degree preferred, but vocational school is acceptable
• Experience: Appropriate certifications and/ or licensures with 1-2 years of on-the-job training or Apprenticeship
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proficient computer skills
• Excellent mathematical knowledge to monitor sales
• Ability to sell and satisfy customers' needs
