Florida Vision Institute is searching for an energetic, patient-focused, team-oriented Optician Lead for our multi-specialty ophthalmology practice in Stuart, Florida. The Optician dispenses and fits spectacles, contact lenses, and other optical aids. Provides advice to patients on various types of lenses and spectacle frames, including style, weight, and color.

Responsibilities
  • Address patient concerns with patience and a caring attitude, highlighting benefits related to comfort, vision correction, savings, and value.
  • Read, interpret, and follow all instructions on eyeglasses and contact lens prescriptions written by eye care providers.
  • Assist in taking frame and facial measurements to ensure correct fit and positioning.
  • Utilize small handheld instruments and larger equipment, including pupilometers and lensometers.
  • Troubleshoot patient complaints; adjust or repair spectacles as needed.
  • Communicate with patients regarding insurance benefits and pricing.
  • Ensure patient confidentiality in accordance with practice policies and HIPAA regulations.
  • Coordinate with clinical associates/doctors for smooth hand-offs from clinic to dispensary.
  • Work with other dispensary associates to meet and exceed sales goals.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • ABO/Ncle certification required.
  • Florida Optician license preferred.
  • Customer-centric focus.
  • Experience with billing vision insurances preferred.
  • Prior sales experience is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work as part of a team.
  • Strong math skills for precise work, including basic algebra and monetary calculations.
  • Strong organization and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to make decisions based on industry standards.
