Job summary

101 Riverside Hospital, Inc. in Newport News, VA is seeking an Optician to design, fit and adapt lenses and frames per prescription.

You will assist patients selecting frames, measure sizes, and prepare lab orders while coordinating with insurance and billing processes. Under the supervision of the Optical Manager and Practice Director, you will maintain high patient service levels, stay current with eyewear technology, and participate in additional optical training as directed.

Qualifications

• Education Program Graduate, approved school of Opticianry (Required)
• Experience 2 years Optician (Preferred)
• Licenses and Certifications Optician License - Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation (Required)

Responsibilities

• Explains features and benefits of all current eye wear technology available to meet the patients needs.
• Assists patients in selecting the appropriate frame and lenses based upon prescription requirements and patient fitting needs.
• Accurately completes ordering process including lab and merchandise orders.
• Medicare claim information no less than 80% compliant to Medicare standards.
• Charges posted in COS, patient receipts and ABN forms are consistently completed correctly and obtains delivery signatures and dates.
• Collects insurance plan authorizations and accurately explains plan coverage and limitations to patients.
