Job Summary

Assists in the operation of UAB Callahan Eyewear by professional dispensing of eyeglasses and frames, inventory control, including ordering procedures, and other processes related to the operation of a retail optical dispensary.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Greet customers of UAB Callahan Eyewear.
• Properly ascertain their optical needs,
• Assist the customer in the appropriate selection of frames, lenses, and other accessories and options,
• Appropriately price the prescribed merchandise and assure appropriate collection of payment.
• Maintain a customer friendly attitude at all times, and may be required to work extended hours, if deemed necessary to provide adequate hours of operations.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Retail Optical experience preferred including base level optical.

Required Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

Prefer certification by the American Board of Opticianry. Candidates should possess excellent organizational skills, experience in computer data entry, positive/polished customer service attitude, ability to prioritize multiple tasks to maximize service and efficiency, excellent teamwork skills, and should be knowledgeable of eyeglass industry trends.
