The Optician is responsible for making eyeglasses for patients aged 2-100. He/she is responsible for the daily operation of the Eye Lab and Dispensary. This means control of inventory and equipment, and for grinding and dispensing of eye glasses. An Optometrist supervises the Optician.
High school diploma or G.E.D.
Graduation from a Certified Optician program or equivalent experience and a license.
There needs to be knowledge and skill in lens grinding, the optical field, and eyeglass dispensing. Bilingual skills preferred.
At least o ne year of prior relevant work experience
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally.
Customer service skills.
Familiarity with the use of a personal computer in a Windows environment is preferred.
Starting at $31.50 per hour, and up to $49.00 based on experience.
