Ciena is seeking an Optical Component Test Engineer to develop and maintain automated test solutions used in manufacturing environments. You will work on hardware and software across test instrument selection and automated test applications to influence product quality and manufacturing efficiency.

The role requires strong optical testing experience, MATLAB/Python skills, and excellent English and French communication.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Optical/Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Physics, or related field.
Experience in optical testing, preferably in a fiber-optic environment.
Experience with MATLAB and/or Python.
Experience using test instruments such as VOA, OSA, PNA, and similar equipment.
Excellent written and verbal communication in English and French.

Responsabilités

Support manufacturing by troubleshooting, maintaining, and optimizing automated test systems for optical components.
Provide technical expertise in selection of test instrumentation and design of test stations.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives focusing on yield, test time reduction, and cost optimization.
Support failure analysis, root cause investigations, and corrective actions for components, subsystems, and returns.
Lead transfer, deployment, and ongoing support of test systems at partner sites.
