Job summary

Meta is seeking an Optical Engineer to drive optics validation within Release to Production NPI. You will develop Python-based test automation for optical transceivers, lead end-to-end NPI programs with vendors/ODMs, and ensure production readiness with robust testing and fleet health tooling.

The role demands hands-on lab work, strong scripting skills, and collaboration across multiple engineering teams to integrate optics into production systems.

Qualifications

8+ years in development roles for optical networking hardware
Experience writing Python scripts to automate tests and measurements
Hands-on experience with high-speed optical and electrical test and lab instrumentation
Experience leading optical transceiver NPI programs with vendors/ODMs through EVT/DVT/PVT to mass production
Willingness to travel to vendor/ODM sites as needed

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain Python scripts and test automation for qualification of optical transceivers
Lead optics NPI programs end to end with vendors and ODMs
Find, debug, and remediate optical hardware failure modes
Set up and operate NPI test stations in Meta labs
Define test methodologies for high-speed optical tech and translate them into reusable scripts
Ensure production-readiness documentation and fleet health tooling
