IPG Optical Technicians assemble, align and test lasers and laser delivery systems according to engineering instructions, technical manuals, and knowledge of optics and mechanics.

Responsibilities:
  • Product/component level assembly.
  • Optical alignment.
  • Testing of optical and laser components.
  • Wide range of assembly processes of precision opto-mechanical components including: soldering, adhesive bonding, UV Curing and mechanical assembly.
  • Cleaning and inspecting optics.
  • Cleaning and inspecting mechanical parts.
  • Optical, mechanical and electrical troubleshooting.
  • Repair.
  • General cleaning and upkeep of work area to uphold cleanroom environment.
  • Follow company laser safety practices.

Requirements:
  • HS Diploma required.
  • AS in Opto-Mechanical, Optics or Electronics preferred, or equivalent experience.
  • Must have 1 – 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to work in cleanroom dress, i.e., gloves, bonnets, frocks, shoe covers, etc. is required.
  • Must have good hand-eye coordination and dexterity.
  • Knowledge of multimeters, oscilloscopes, optical spectrum analyzers and laser beam profiling equipment preferred.
  • Ability to work with small parts under a microscope for extended periods for time.
  • Ability to read and follow written instructions and schematics.
  • Must be organized, energetic, reliable, timely and detail oriented.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Data entry skills.
