Job summary

Bright Silicon Technologies in Pleasanton, CA, is seeking an optical engineer to develop free-space and guided-wave optical systems for communications and sensing. You will design and integrate photonic and electro-optical hardware, from lasers and fiber coupling to detectors and modem interfaces, partnering with mechanical, electrical, firmware, and communications engineers.

You will own back-end subsystems, specify components, test end-to-end links, develop metrology and calibration

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Optical Engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
At least 3 years designing guided-wave optical systems.
Familiarity with optical modems/transceivers, interfaces and end-to-end link performance.
Hands-on experience with optical test equipment and hardware troubleshooting.
Clear communication and cross-disciplinary collaboration.

Responsibilities

Own the development of guided-wave optical back-end subsystems for communications and sensing.
Design and integrate free-space and fiber-optic hardware including lasers and VOAs.
Evaluate optical modems/transceivers and perform end-to-end link testing.
Develop metrology and calibration procedures to validate designs.
Design for production and prepare technical documentation.
