Join an extremely talented and multi-disciplinary team in Keysight Laboratories uniquely chartered with inventing and developing breakthrough electronic and optical measurement technologies. As a member of Keysight Technologies’ central research organization, you’ll work with a team of experts in fields ranging from photonics to RF and from sensors to communications. You’ll see the results of your research in, for example, Keysight’s next-generation solutions for 6G, quantum computing, or even future test and measurement solutions defined by you.
Team members are typically assigned to one of a handful of applied research projects in our research portfolio—each aimed at providing breakthrough technologies for Keysight. These projects can be self-initiated by members of our team (perhaps you!) or by request from Keysight’s business units. Our role in the central research laboratory is to invent, develop, and validate these breakthrough technologies, and if they prove successful, to assist in their commercialization by Keysight’s businesses.

Your efforts will enable next-generation test and measurement solutions supporting a variety of industries, for example, 6G, quantum computing, and data center infrastructure.

To foster innovation, this position requires close collaboration with other team members. Consequently, this job must be performed from our offices in Santa Clara, California.
The successful candidate will possess a deep theoretical understanding as well as strong practical skills in the general areas of lasers and optical system design. Experience with interferometry, photonic integration, and measurement science is also valuable. As this is an applied research position, the successful candidate will have demonstrated a willingness to delve deeply into challenging problems and an ability to propose, develop, and implement innovative yet practical solutions. The job will require design and development of a variety of optical devices and systems for a variety of applications.
Core Qualifications
Ph.D. and 5+ years of experience with lasers (semiconductor or solid state) and free space optics
Strong background in free space optical system design, including polarization concepts
Strong understanding of laser technologies and principles of operation
Familiarity with interferometry and optical measurement science
Proficiency with optical system and device simulation tools (e.g., ZEMAX, Lumerical)
Hands-on laboratory experience with optical systems
Ability to assemble and validate optical systems
Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team

Location
This position requires close collaboration with team members and must be performed from our offices inSanta Clara, California.Site amenities include a roof top garden, cafeteria, and lunch time sports like basketball, volleyball, and pickleball. The site also hosts a gym and free EV charging facilities.

Santa Clara, CA pay range: MIN $142,030 - MAX $250,040
Note:For other locations, pay ranges will vary by region
