Job summary

Thorlabs is seeking a Process Technician to fabricate optical components in a cleanroom environment in Columbia, SC. You will execute production processes across photolithography, etching, coating, and laser machining while monitoring quality and maintaining equipment and inventory.

The role requires basic reading/writing/arithmetic, 1 year manufacturing experience or related education, and a willingness to travel up to 10%. Training on health and safety is provided and PPE is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of manufacturing experience or related technical education.
• Experience with lab safety and hygiene preferred.
• Must successfully complete company’s training program to include health and safety training.

Responsibilities

• Read and follow work instructions; execute processes utilizing production technologies.
• Photolithographic patterning of substrates and wet chemical etching.
• Operate high vacuum coating and dry etching processes; chemical and mechanical cleaning.
• Mechanical machining and dicing of metal, glass, polymers; laser marking and machining.
• Monitor process performance and outcomes; maintain clean, organized work area.
• Confidently and safely work with hazardous energies and materials.
• Operate and monitor automated processing tools; perform quality inspections.
