Job summary

Insight Global is seeking an Optical Process Engineer to lead development, implementation, and optimization of metrology and inspection processes for optical assemblies. This role acts as the technical authority on CMM, laser trackers, and precision measurement systems in a high‑tolerance manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Engineering Technology or related field; 2–8 years depending on degree.
• Hands-on experience with CMMs, laser trackers, and precision dimensional inspection tools.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, GD&T, and optical/mechanical specifications.
• Experience developing and modifying metrology programs and inspection methods.
• Strong troubleshooting and cross-functional collaboration.

We are seeking a highly skilled Optical Process Engineer to lead the development, implementation, and optimization of advanced metrology and inspection processes for optical and precision hardware assemblies. This role will serve as a technical authority in CMM, laser tracker, and precision measurement systems, supporting both production and new product introduction in a high-tolerance manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in dimensional metrology, GD&T, and inspection process development, with the ability to translate complex optical/mechanical product definitions into robust, repeatable inspection solutions. This will be a first shift position Monday-Friday 7am to 4pm.

Skills and Requirements

• Associate degree in Engineering Technology, Manufacturing, Metrology, or related field (or equivalent hands-on experience) 2 years without a masters, 4 years with bachelors, or 8 years with no degree
• Strong hands-on experience with CMMs, laser trackers, and precision dimensional inspection tools
• Proven ability to interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, GD&T, and optical/mechanical specifications
• Experience developing and modifying metrology programs and inspection methods
• Strong troubleshooting skills in a precision manufacturing environment
• Effective communication and ability to work cross-functionally
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word) Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Optical Engineering, or related field
• Experience with metrology software such as:
• PC-DMIS, PolyWorks, SpatialAnalyzer, Calypso, Verisurf
• Experience supporting optical systems, aerospace components, precision assemblies, or tight-tolerance manufacturing
• Experience with: Measurement System Analysis (MSA) GR&R and capability analysis SPC and statistical methods
• Experience designing fixtures, tooling, or error-reduction measurement setups
• Familiarity with quality systems, nonconformance processes, and corrective action frameworks
• Prior experience training technicians or serving as a technical lead
