Job summary

Northrop Grumman Space Systems in Redondo Beach, CA is seeking a Senior Principal Optical Payload Systems Engineer to advance space systems through comprehensive systems engineering efforts. You will contribute to architecture trade studies, system design analysis, and performance modeling using advanced simulations.

Define and manage requirements, develop interfaces, and leverage cutting-edge optical sensing and RF technologies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in STEM with 8+ years experience OR a Master's with 6+ years, or a PhD with 4+ years.
• Strong leadership and verbal/written communication skills.
• Experience designing, integrating, testing and operating optical and/or RF systems.
• Active DoD Top Secret and ability to obtain SCI clearance at time of application.

Responsibilities

• Support architecture trade studies and system design analysis.
• Define system architectures and develop specifications.
• Allocate and validate requirements for payload performance analysis.
• Design modeling and simulation tools for system-level evaluation.
• Lead payload hardware development for space and ground systems integration.
• Manage subcontractor performance, hardware manufacturing and integration processes.
