Job summary

Client is seeking an Optical Network Engineer to design, implement, and maintain its Corporate Communications Transmission Network (CCTN) across New York and New Jersey. You will work on DWDM systems, optical transport, and related telecom infrastructure to support critical utility operations.

The role involves testing, commissioning, and performance validation, with hybrid onsite work and travel to service centers and sites across the region.

Qualifications

• DWDM network design, deployment, operation, maintenance, and monitoring experience.
• Experience with optical transmission, fiber power budgets, and transport technologies.
• Experience developing engineering standards and best practices in telecom/utility networks.

Responsibilities

• Develop DWDM network designs, waveplans, power budgets, and lifecycle upgrades.
• Create engineering plans, BOMs, and schedules for DWDM, OSP fiber, microwaves, and DC power.
• Prepare MODs, procedures, and documentation for deployments and migrations.
• Perform end-to-end validation, testing, and fault isolation across legacy and modern transport systems.
• Operate and troubleshoot DWDM components, transponders, ROADMs, and related management platforms.
• Coordinate with vendors and contractors, ensuring quality and as-built docs.
• Travel across Client/Orange & Rockland territories for project execution and restoration tasks.
• Support emergency restorations and post-implementation support.
