Job summary

Coherent Corp. located in Budd Lake, New Jersey, seeks a seasoned professional to manage and innovate manufacturing processes for complex optical components. Skills

Knowledge of fabrication and polishing of optical components
SolidWorks design and simulation skills
CNC programming
Proficient in OneNote and Microsoft Office
Knowledge of Six Sigma, C-Lean, and 5S

Education

Job description

Responsibilities
  • Develop and design manufacturing processes for complex optical components using existing equipment and technologies or implementing new cost‑efficient approaches.
  • Design tools and fixtures to improve or streamline manufacturing processes.
  • Define best technical solutions to mitigate human factor influences.
  • Troubleshoot and conduct root cause failure analysis for prototype units through development to production.
  • Participate with senior managers to establish strategic plans and objectives.
  • Make final decisions on operational matters and ensure operations effectively achieve objectives.
  • Drive program and issue resolutions cross‑functionally.
  • Implement strategic policies when selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
  • Ensure adherence to budgets, schedules, work plans, and performance requirements.
  • Communicate project status and maintain documentation at project status meetings.
  • Direct and control the activities of a broad functional area through multiple department managers.
  • Oversee planning, staffing, budgeting, expense prioritization, and recommend and implement changes to methods.
Technical Skills
  • Knowledge of fabrication and polishing of optical components.
  • Knowledge of crystal fabrication.
  • Proven experience as an optician for various crystal processing procedures.
  • SolidWorks design and simulation skills.
  • Hands‑on experience in an optical shop.
  • CNC programming.
  • Utilization of microscopes, interferometers, and laser measurement setups.
  • Proficient in OneNote, Microsoft Office, Oracle, or similar software.
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma, C‑Lean, and 5S.
Education
  • Master’s in Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent, with experience in optics and material engineering.
  • Typical requirement: minimum of 15 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 12 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 9 years of experience; or equivalent experience.
