The Lab Manager oversees the operation of the lab, ensuring quality and same-day service standards are met. This role also supervises Lab Technicians.

Job Description

What Would You Do? The Specifics?

• Optimize and oversee the lab to ensure efficiency and compliance with company policies and operational guidelines.
• Identify areas for improvement and develop action plans. Provide excellent customer service by respecting customers, offering prompt and courteous service, and understanding their needs.
• Execute same-day service using the “Ready When Promised” production board.
• Perform machine maintenance to keep lab equipment clean and functional. Address equipment issues immediately and inform the General Manager and retail staff of any delays.
• Ensure safety rules are followed, including mandatory protective eyewear for all lab technicians.
• Control inventory shrinkage by monitoring and recording breakage and maintaining accurate inventories. Ensure adequate stock of lenses and lab supplies to meet customer needs.
• Supervise and motivate Lab Technicians, ensuring timely completion of daily tasks.
• Assist the General Manager with recruiting, selecting, and retaining high-quality lab staff.
• Delegate tasks appropriately to maximize organizational goals and support staff development.
• Manage lab associate schedules to comply with payroll guidelines, considering skill levels.
• Ensure all lab associates are properly trained on equipment and continue developing their skills. Collaborate with the Training Department for ongoing training and development.
• Conduct annual performance reviews and ongoing coaching for all associates.
